QUOTES
Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the series:
"We're not where we want to be or where we need to be. There are some things we did well this weekend, and there are some things we did poorly. I was proud of some guys' efforts. Jase Dalton came in today and gave us a chance; he kept us in the ballgame. Collectively, we got outplayed and outperformed by Alabama in all three phases. We need to be better in all three phases, but it's good. When you play good teams, it shows you where you have some strengths and weaknesses. You could play somebody weak that walks 15 and you score 15 to 20 runs a game and they don't push back, and you have a false sense of who you are. I get more of a sense of who we are. I don't like it, obviously, because we just got swept and it doesn't feel good. But I like where some of the guys are at; we need more guys. We had some guys who hit the ball hard this weekend and didn't have much to show for it. We had a couple of guys who pitched well. Patrick McBride has thrown very well, and it was good to see Jase Dalton come back. And we got a couple of good starts in there too. The story of the weekend was we lost the last third of the first two games. They (Alabama) were better than us in innings seven through nine, and that's where you earn your money. We didn't do a good enough job there, so we have to find some guys who can do that and be reliable. I don't think we're far off; we're close in some areas, and there are obviously some areas that we need to be better in."
