MOBILE, Ala. – The third-seeded University of South Alabama volleyball team will open play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Fri., Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Strahan Center in San Marcos, Texas.
No. 3 South Alabama (20-10) will face the winner of No. 6 Appalachian State and No. 7 UT Arlington, which will square off on Thu., Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the opening round of the tournament.
Every match of the tournament will be broadcast live and available through ESPN+. Live stats for every match will also be provided. USA ranks second in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.242), and ranks third in hitting percentage (.241) against league opponents. The Jags are fifth in the league in blocks per set (2.07) in conference contests.
Kelley Hartman, who earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors this season, leads the league in hitting percentage (.371), and ranks eighth in kills per set (3.08). Rachael DeMarcus ranks fifth in assists per set (9.74), Hannah Harris ranks tied for fifth in service aces per set (0.37) and Ashlyn Roberts ranks seventh in digs per set (4.06).
South Alabama defeated UTA in four sets on Oct. 18 this year in Arlington, Texas, and split a pair of matches with Appalachian State. UTA holds a 7-4 all-time series lead over USA, while the series with the Mountaineers is even at 6-6.
USA, which finished the regular season in second place in the Sun Belt East Division, is 10-36 all-time in the Sun Belt Tournament.
The Sun Belt Championship final is scheduled for Sun., Nov. 24, at 1 p.m.
