NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will compete in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed, and will face the winner of No. 6 Appalachian State and No. 7 UT Arlington on Fri., Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Strahan Center in San Marcos, Texas.
Tournament host Texas State, who won the regular season championship, is the No. 1 seed, while Sun Belt East Division champion Coastal Carolina will be the No. 2 seed. USA is No. 3, and Troy will be the No. 4 seed, followed by No. 5 Louisiana, No. 6 Appalachian State, No. 7 UT Arlington and No. 8 Arkansas State.
App State and UT Arlington will square off in the first round Thu., Nov. 21. The winner will face USA at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and the winner of that match will face No. 2 Coastal Carolina on Sat., Nov. 23, at 5 p.m. No. 8 Arkansas State and No. 5 Louisiana will open the tournament on Thu., Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. The Sun Belt Championship is scheduled for Sun., Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. Every match of the tournament will be broadcast live and available through ESPN+.
USA, which finished the regular season in second place in the Sun Belt East Division, is 10-36 all-time in the Sun Belt Tournament after it fell to No. 6 Arkansas State in five sets in last season's tournament. Texas State won last year's Sun Belt Tournament in Atlanta, Ga., after also capturing the 2018 regular season title.
