2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
GREENWOOD, Ind. – University of South Alabama volleyball senior middle blocker Kelley Hartman was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
Hartman, a communication major who boasts a 3.97 GPA, was one of seven student-athletes voted NCAA Division I-District 4 First-Team All-Academic, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and South Carolina, and the only student-athlete from the state of Alabama.
First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in early December.
Hartman has appeared in 28 matches with four starts this season. She leads the Sun Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.374), which ranks 40th nationally, and ranks seventh in the league in kills per set (3.11). In conference matches, Hartman ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.342), and 10th in kills per set (3.18).
She has recorded 10 or more kills in 18 matches this season, including six straight entering Friday's match at Appalachian State. Hartman finished with a career-high 29 kills, along with a .551 hitting percentage, at Georgia State on Oct. 4, and was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 after recording 39 kills in two matches, which totaled eight sets, for an average of 4.88 kills per set, while posting a .430 hitting percentage.
Hartman recorded her 1,000th career kill against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 1, making her the eight Jaguar in program history to record 1,000 or more kills. She currently ranks second in career hitting percentage (.309) at South Alabama, third in career blocks (371) and block-assists (281), sixth in solo blocks (90) and eighth in kills (1,023).
Hartman is the first Jaguar to earn Academic All-District honors since Hannah Harris earned the distinction last season.
