Opening Kick
• The Jaguars face Louisiana — the leader of the Sun Belt Conference West Division — in the next-to-last home game of the season.
• It's the first of three straight contests against teams currently with a winning record; 6-3 Georgia State and 5-4 Arkansas State are the Jags' opponents the final two weeks of the regular season.
• South enters the game with a 6-2 record at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in November the last four years.
• The quartet of Hannah Campbell (softball, 2011-14), Jim Crawford (baseball, assistant coach 1968-79, '81-83; head coach 1980), Brittany Fowler (softball, 2010-13) and DeRico Tilley (men's track & field, 2000-01) will be inducted into the South Alabama Athletics Hall of Fame in a 10 a.m. (CST) ceremony Saturday at the Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza on campus as well as recognized on the field at halftime of this contest.

South Alabama-Louisiana Series Notes
• With the exception of the teams' 2016 meeting in Lafayette, every game in the series has been played on or after Nov. 1.
• After splitting the first four games, the Ragin' Cajuns have claimed three straight match-ups in the series.
• The home team has won all but one contest, with UL earning the only road victory in its last trip to Mobile in 2017.
• Last fall's game marked the first time since the 2015 campaign that the winning squad has posted 30 or more points.
• The 86 points scored by both teams a year ago were the most ever in a conference game in South's history, while the 2014 match-up — a 19-9 UL victory — is tied for fourth for the fewest combined points posted in the Jag record book.

Notes From The Last Louisiana Meeting
• The Jaguars recorded season-high figures in first downs (27), total plays (85) and time of possession (35:59) in last fall's match-up.
• The 38 points were more than USA totaled in its other three Sun Belt road games in 2018 (34).
• The Jags' first scoring march set school records both for number of plays (20) and time of possession (10:13) for a drive resulting in points.
• RB Tra Minter broke South's season record in all-purpose yardage — becoming the first individual in program history to go over 1,500 in the category in a year — after posting 223.
• In addition to tying a career high with three touchdowns, WR Kawaan Baker matched his best mark of the year with 124 all-purpose yards.

Notes On Campbell's Coaching/Playing Career
• Campbell's 163-70 mark as a head coach includes going 33-15 over four years at Central Arkansas from 2014-17, where he guided the Bears to back-to-back NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances before taking over at South Alabama.
• He has led two programs to national championships — Delta (Miss.) State in 2000 at the NCAA Division II level and Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association crown.
• In 20 seasons no team coached by Campbell finished below .500 prior to the 2018 campaign.
• Campbell has coached on the staffs of Pat Dye (Auburn graduate assistant, 1988-89) and Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State assistant, 2003).
• Campbell and Jaguar coordinators Kenny Edenfield and Greg Stewart were teammates on Troy's 1987 NCAA Division II national championship squad.

Career Milestone For Kawaan
Baker caught four passes for 34 yards in the Texas State game, with his first covering 21 yards to give him more than 1,000 receiving yards in his career.  In becoming the 10th Jaguar ever to reach the milestone, the redshirt junior led South in yards receiving for the fifth time in nine outings this fall while it was the third occasion he has paced the squad in receptions.

Making a Move
Minter gained a game-high 87 yards on 21 carries against the Bobcats, including scoring his first touchdown on the ground since the Jags' Sept. 7 victory over Jackson State with a six-yard run that gave USA its final lead, 28-27, with just under 10 minutes to go in the contest.  It was the sixth time in a row that the senior has led the team in rushing yards, with the performance moving him into fifth place on the school's season record list.  Here's the top five in the Jaguar record book as Minter looks to become the first 1,000-yard rusher in program history:
1. 956, Xavier Johnson (2015)
2. 891, Kendall Houston (2010)
3. 831, Xavier Johnson (2016)
4. 801, Tra Minter (2018)
5. 744, Tra Minter (2019)

Reed On A Roll
Senior Travis Reed has now accounted for each of the last three interceptions by the Jag defense after picking off a second-quarter Tyler Vitt pass last time out.  Not only is the cornerback now tied for third on South's season record list, but he also posted a career-best seven tackles against the Bobcats after being credited with a total of five in the Jaguars' three contests last month.

Cole Contributions
LB Riley Cole has now finished with five or more stops in each of the last four outings after collecting five in the TXST game.  That figure included a sack for a loss of 10 yards on the second snap of the second quarter, the first time in his career that the redshirt junior has posted one in consecutive outings.  After entering the season with 2½ tackles for loss over the last three years combined, Cole has recorded three sacks among his seven stops behind the line this fall.

It's Whatley's World
Jeffery Whatley moved up in the Sun Belt rankings while also entering the top 10 in South's record book after posting a career-best 2½ tackles for loss against the Bobcats.  It was the fourth straight game that the defensive lineman has made at least one stop behind the line of scrimmage, and during that stretch he has finished with at least five total tackles on three occasions.  The top-10 season record list for tackles for loss includes:
1. 19.0, Randy Allen (2016)
2. 15.0, Jake Johnson (2012)
3. 14.0, Alex Page (2013)
4. 13.5, Romelle Jones (2013)
    13.5, Pat Moore (2013)
6. 13.0, Theo Rich (2014)
7. 11.5, Alex Page (2012)
8. 11.0, Roman Buchanan (2016)
9. 10.0, Tyree Turner (2018)
10. 9.5, Jeffery Whatley (2019)
