MOBILE, Ala. – Senior second baseman Kaleigh Todd etched her name into the record books as she became the program's all-time multi-hits leader and tied for top honors in career stolen bases and hits, as the University of South Alabama softball team captured a 3-1 victory over ULM at Jaguar Field Sunday afternoon to pick up a Sun Belt series win over the Warhawks.
With her 2-for-3 performance at the plate, Todd recorded her 58th career multi-hit game to pass Brittany Fowler's previous mark. The two hits also gave Todd 213 for her career to tie Fowler in that category, while she also stole the 69th base of her career to tie former Jag Evelyne Pare's all-time mark.

KEY MOMENT OF THE GAME
-With the bases loaded and no outs for ULM and South Alabama clinging to a one-run advantage, the Jaguars defense came up huge as Jaguar leftfielder Haleigh Lowe gunned down Jaclyn Kresta at the plate for a double play. Lowe's throw home was on the mark and Lyric Cabral applied the tag to complete the double play. Devin Brown then got the Warhawks to ground out to short to end the inning and preserve the one-run lead.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
-Todd was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Jaguars while she scored twice and stole her 12th base of the season. Â
-Lowe, Foster and B. Reid recorded the three other Jaguar hits, while B. Reid had a two-run home run and Foster registered a RBI single.
-Brown (14-11) went the distances allowing just the one run on five hits. Brown also walked three and struck out five while tossing 101 pitches.
-Kresta (2-for-2) and Sydney McKay (2-for-3) had multiple hits to lead ULM, while Wrobel had the other hit for the Warhawks and drove in a run. Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-ULM entered the game leading the SBC in steals with 64, but Cabral threw out both Warhawks attempting to steal on Sunday.
-Three of the four runs scored in the game came with two outs.
-Paige Murray (12-6) took the loss for ULM. In her six innings of work, Murray allowed three runs on five hits and struck out two.
GAME FACTS
-Todd singled through the left side of the infield to lead off the bottom of the first for the Jaguars and then on the fourth pitch of the at-bat to Lowe, swiped her 69th career stolen base. After advancing to third on a wild pitch from Murray, Todd came home on B. Reid's two-run home run to right center. The Jag sophomore took a 1-2 pitch the opposite way that carried over the wall in right center for her team-leading sixth home run of the season to give South a 2-0 lead.
-ULM answered back with a run in the top half of the second. H. Hogan worked a full-count walk to start the frame after being down 0-2 in the count. With two outs in the inning, Wrobel grounded a single through the left side of the infield to score H. Hogan from second and cut the South advantage in half.
-Neither team was able to do much over the next several innings until the sixth. ULM loaded the bases with no outs in the top half of the inning after a double by Kresta, a single from McKay and a walk to Jayden Mount. Rochelle Roberts then flew out to Lowe in left. The Jag senior then made a beautiful throw to Cabral at the plate who applied the tag to get Kresta trying to score. One batter later, Brown was able to get H. Hogan to ground out to Foster at short to end the inning.
-After the nice defensive play in the top half of the inning, South added an insurance run in the bottom half to extend its lead to 3-1. With one away in the sixth, Todd recorded her second hit of the contest with a single to center. Lowe followed with a single of her own and Foster brought Todd home one batter later as she lined the Jags' third-straight hit of the inning to left.
-ULM put a runner on in the seventh with one out, but Brown retired the final two Warhawks to clinch the series win for the Jaguars.
NOTES
-With her start at short, Foster moved into sixth on the program's consecutive starts chart as she made her 145th straight start for the Jaguars, passing former Jag Christin Crocker (2009-12).
-Todd became just the eighth player in program history to reach the 200 games played mark in her career with her start at second on Sunday.
-The game was also the 830th of head coach Becky Clark's career and her 640th at South Alabama. She holds a career record of 560-268-2 and a 404-235-1 record at South Alabama.
-With her first-inning stolen base, Todd tied Evelyne Pare's career program mark of 69. Todd also extended her career-best reached base safely streak to 19 games with her leadoff single. The 19-game reached base safely streak is tied with four other players for seventh longest in program history and is the longest streak since Emily Messer's 26-game streak set during the 2016 season.
-Todd's sixth-inning single in the sixth gave her two more career marks as it was her second hit of the contest to give her a program best 58 multi-hit games for her career. The two hit performance also tied her with Fowler for the hits mark as she now has 213 for her career.
-Todd now has 51 hits this season, raising her season batting average to .375. She is hitting a team-best .448 in league play and since the series finale at Georgia Southern on March 18 – a span of 16 games – Todd has batted .517 (31-for-60), scored 17 runs and recorded 11 multi-hit games.
-B. Reid's two-run home run in the top of the first was the 21st hit by the Jaguars this season and the fifth multi-run shot. South Alabama has now homered in nine of its last 13 games, recording 15 of its 21 during that same stretch.
-The series win snapped a streak of two-straight SBC series losses for the Jaguars. Â
-The complete-game effort by Brown was the 70th of her career, making her just the third player in program history to achieve that feat – Hannah Campbell (93) and Beth Pilgrim (77).
-The RBI was the 104th of Foster's career.
-The two runs scored by Todd also moved her into third on the program's all-time list as she now has 138 for her career.
THEY SAID IT
Head coach Becky Clark
- On getting the series win: "Today was huge. We let [game two of the series] get away from us on Friday night. I was happy to see how we responded to that. Today was a great team win; we had a lot of really good stuff happen in the game. I would've liked to see us score a little more, but there were a lot of balls that I thought we squared up and just hit right at somebody. There's nothing you can do about that. We had some quality at-bats today and did some good thing, but we didn't have as much to show for it."
- On the play of the defense: "We had some great defense today. Lyric [Cabral] did a great job behind the plate throwing out the two runners. She keeps getting better and better back there. I thought all the way around though we had some great team defense. Haleigh Lowe put the ball right where Lyric needed it on the play at the plate and that was a huge play in [the sixth] inning."
- On Kaleigh Todd's career accomplishments: "Obviously, Kaleigh [Rodd] has meant a ton to our program. She comes in every day and works her tail off. She's a competitor. There's not a day off for her. Every time she hits the field, she's competing and trying to help the team win. You can't say enough about what she's done throughout her career here at South Alabama."
Kaleigh Todd
- On what achieving the career records means to her: "It means a lot to me. You put in the hard work and to see you gain accomplishments from that work means a lot. This is a team game though and we have to keep going."
- On getting the series win: "Today was good for us. We bounced back. We weren't happy with the loss in game two, but today we fought and came out strong today."
