SPICHER JOINS SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING STAFF

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Strength and Conditioning for Athletics Callye Williams announced Thursday that Dew Spicher (pronounced SPIKE-er) has been hired as assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Spicher's primary responsibilities will be working the Jaguar baseball and soccer programs.

He comes to South after serving as a high performance coach at Performance Enhancement Professionals in Scottsdale, Ariz., since February 2017.  In his role with the organization, Spicher worked primarily with athletes from both the National Football League and Major League Baseball with his responsibilities including implementing strength and conditioning programs based on individual evaluation results as well as sport and position needs, executing a nutrition and supplement protocol, and providing manual therapy.

Spicher has experience at the collegiate level too, having served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Belmont for nearly two years beginning in August 2015.  In addition to working directly with the Bruin baseball, men's tennis and women's golf teams, he oversaw the curriculum for staff interns.  He also completed an internship with Cressey Sports Performance in 2016, where he worked directly with both collegiate and professional baseball players.

A native of Falls Creek, Pa., Spicher was a three-year football letterwinner — starting two seasons — at Duquesne.  After earning his bachelor's degree from the school in athletic training with a communications minor in 2015, he added a master's degree in sports administration from Belmont in 2017.

In addition to being certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) he has standard first aid certification from the American Red Cross.

Spicher and his wife, the former Anna Reinhard of Charleroi, Pa., reside in Mobile with their dog, Jameson.
