THEY SAID IT
Head coach Terry Fowler
Opening Statement: "Anytime you go on the road, especially against a team with the kind of pride they have here in Central Arkansas, we expect a battle and we got one today. We really fought with all of our post players getting into foul trouble and having to play some make-shift lineups. Players just made play after play so it was a big win for us on the road."
On the first road game of the season: "Anytime you go on the road you're learning the routine, what the coaches want, so all that stuff is new. This team has got newcomers and we're are a young team with nine out of 14 being freshman and sophomores."
On big shots in the third: "I thought Alexis Sykes came in for Savannah Jones and had some big shots for us and then Damaya made the big corner three that proved to be valuable for us as well. That gave us some breathing room and then we were able to execute down the stretch even though they made their run."
On the defense: "We knew they're not a great outside shooting team but they made some late. We wanted to make it difficult for their post players and take up space and squeeze, make it difficult for them to feed it inside."
Up next: The Jaguars will stay on the road to play Southern University at 5:30 p.m. (CST) on Monday.
