Opening Kick
• The Jaguars will be on the road for the final time in 2018 when they visit Louisiana Saturday.
• They will be looking for their first victory away from home since defeating Troy in the "Battle For The Belt" on Oct. 11, 2017, having dropped eight straight road contests.
• The only season since the program's inception that South has failed to notch at least one victory on the road was in 2012, the team's first year in the Sun Belt Conference.
• The Jags' last win in Louisiana was a 41-39 decision at Tulane on Sept. 7, 2013.
• South is 1-6 all-time in games played in the state after falling in each of their last four visits over the last four-plus seasons.
South Alabama-Louisiana Series Notes
• Until last fall, the home team had won each of the first five meetings in the series.
• Each of the last three matchups has been decided by one score.
• The winning program has recorded 28 or more points in four of the first six contests.
• After combining to post 82 points in the first-ever meeting between the two schools — a 52-30 Ragin' Cajun victory on Nov. 24, 2012 — the two teams have managed to total 79 points between them in the last two games played in Lafayette.
• The 82 points are the most ever scored by both teams in a Jaguar contest in league play.
Notes From The Last Louisiana Meeting
• Malik Stanley accounted for both Jaguar touchdowns with catches of 12 and 18 yards, making him the only Jaguar with multiple scoring receptions in a game in 2017.
• Fellow WR Jamarius Way had an 81-yard reception in the fourth quarter — South's longest play from scrimmage last season — en route to his second straight 100-yard game after finishing with five catches for 110 yards.
• S Jeremy Reaves moved into second-place on USA's all-time tackles list after being credited with a game-high 10 stops.
• Corliss Waitman averaged a season-best 50.3 yards on six punts to record the second-highest average (minimum four kicks) in the school's record books.
• Jag QB Cole Garvin threw for a then-career-high 274 yards, completing 22-of-35 attempts after coming on in the second quarter.
Notes On Campbell's Coaching/Playing Career
• Campbell's 161-60 mark as a head coach includes going 33-15 over the last four years at Central Arkansas, where he guided the Bears to back-to-back NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances.
• He has led two programs to national championships — Delta (Miss.) State in 2000 at the NCAA Division II level and Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association crown.
• In his first 19 seasons, no team coached by Campbell finished below .500.
• Campbell has coached on the staffs of Pat Dye (Auburn graduate assistant, 1988-89) and Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State assistant, 2003).
• Campbell and Jaguar coordinators Kenny Edenfield and Greg Stewart were teammates on Troy's 1987 NCAA Division II national championship squad.
Big Day For McCray
Jordan McCray gave the Jags their only lead of the ULM contest last time out with a 34-yard touchdown reception in the opening quarter and is now tied for team lead with four scoring catches this season. Â Not only did the junior move into the top 10 on South's single season list in the category, he entered the top 10 all-time in program history with 54 receptions after sharing the team lead with three against the Warhawks.
Three Straight With 10-Plus
LB Bull Barge has made 10 or more tackles in three straight outings — leading the team in the category in two of the last three contests — after being credited with a game-high 12 in last weekend's game.  The senior has recorded 237 stops since the beginning of the 2015 campaign, and with eight more will move into the top five on the Jaguars' all-time list.
Turner Now In Top 10
Tyree Turner matched a season-high total with seven stops in the ULM game, which included posting one of the team's two sacks. Â Not only did the junior equal his previous best with seven tackles for loss first set two years ago, he moved into the top 10 all-time in a pair of different categories at South as he now has 19 stops behind the line of scrimmage and seven sacks since the start of the 2015 season.
Climb Continues
With 79 all-purpose yards against the Warhawks, junior RB Tra Minter became only the fifth individual since the program's inception in 2009 to surpass more than 2,000 yards in the category. Â After leading South with 61 yards on 12 attempts in the contest, he also went over 800 yards rushing in his career as with 852 in the last season-plus Minter is now tied for seventh place with Tyreis Thomas (2015-16) on the school's all-time list.
Waitman Warming Up
With an average of 45.1 yards per kick in the matchup with the Warhawks, it marked the fourth time this fall that Waitman has posted a mark of 45 yards or higher.  That included a pair of punts of 50-plus yards — the third straight outing he has recorded at least two such efforts — as the senior enters the final weeks of the regular season second in the league in the category as well as third with 16 kicks inside the opposition's 20-yard line.
End-To-End Action
Both defensive ends in the Jaguar defensive scheme — seniors Sean Grayer and Chason Milner — made an impact last time out with stops in the ULM backfield.  The former was credited with his first sack in nearly a year to give him four stops for loss in 2018, a total that matches his output the last three years combined.  The latter posted a pair of assists behind the line, as he now stands second on the squad with six this fall — that's twice as many as he recorded over his first three seasons with the program.
