MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama football program has added a pair of home-and-home series to its future schedules, Jaguar Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann announced Friday.
The Jags will open the 2024 campaign at home against North Texas on Aug. 31, and one week later will travel to Ohio. Â South will make the trip to Denton on Sept. 27, 2025, while OU will complete the agreement with a visit to Mobile on Sept. 26 the following fall.
USA faced the Mean Green in its first season of Sun Belt Conference competition, dropping a 24-14 decision on the road on Nov. 10, 2012. Â The Jaguars have three other home-and-home arrangements with Conference USA members, with the first beginning this year when they face Louisiana Tech on the road Sept. 30; the Bulldogs are scheduled to begin the 2018 campaign at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Sept. 1. Â South will take on fellow league schools Alabama-Birmingham (2018 and '19) and Southern Mississippi (2020 and '21) in the future.
The Jaguars have played just one school while a C-USA member, defeating Tulane in New Orleans on Sept. 7, 2013.
While the Jags and Bobcats have yet to meet, USA has a 2-2 record against Mid-American Conference schools having played a three-game series against Kent State while taking on Bowling Green in the program's first-ever postseason bowl appearance at the 2014 Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. Â The Jaguars will meet BGSU again during the 2021 and '22 seasons, and will face fellow MAC member Central Michigan in 2022 and '23.
