THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Terry Fowler
Opening statement:Â "I was really pleased with or effort early. I thought we played the first quarter as well as we could play it. It came down to the things we talked about. I thought we did a good job on transition defense, but the rebounding got us. We knew that was going to be an issue. I was pleased with how we kept fighting and hanging on. I felt if we could have got a couple of shots to drop in the third quarter we would have had an opportunity."
Â
On playing without Chyna in the second quarter:Â "It was great that the team was able to hang in there without Chyna. I know she wasn't pleased with sitting out, but that's our philosophy if you get two fouls you sit. We go into halftime with her only playing a little over five minutes in the half and we were only down 12 heading into the half. We were pleased there. It was great to see Antoinette [Lewis] come in there and do some positive things. I thought Erin Autio and Savannah [Jones] did some positive things. I thought we got a great team effort to keep us in there during that stretch in the first half.."
Â
On holding NC State's leading scorer Chelsea Nelson to 10 points: "We wanted to make her [Nelson] do some things she hasn't done. I thought our post players did great against her. She hit a three, but we were settling for that and it was fine. It was a great job defensively for us."
