THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Matthew Graves

On what he wanted out of the game: "What I wanted to see was a lot of different combinations tonight. I wanted to see guys step up and play really hard. I thought we did that defensively – I thought we flew around. You had several different combinations out there and lineups with five sophomores at one point. I thought John Pettway came in and did a good job for us at the point, and Rozelle Nix had a couple of nice jump hooks. We got a lot of guys minutes and I thought they played really well once we got by the initial anxiousness."

On the first game jitters: "It's really difficult and the person I think you saw it the most, and this is going to sound strange, was Josh (Ajayi). He's stepping into a new role where we need him to get a double-double on any given night. I thought he was a little anxious, forced some things early and didn't let the game come to him, but it's a great learning experience."

On the difference in second half: "We have a lot more depth than they do. I thought our defensive pressure was very consistent throughout the night, even in the first half they banked in a couple of 3-point shots. I thought our defensive intensity was really good throughout the night."

On Sikes' performance: "I thought Rodrick did a tremendous job. He took the right shots at the right time. Like a lot of guys in the first half, I thought he was rushed and impatient, but he got in a rhythm in the second half and scored the ball for us. I think that's what you're going to see from this team. We've got a couple of guys that have that spurtability to get four, six, eight quick points, and that's what I really like about this team."
