NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced Wednesday it has reached an agreement with the American Sports Network to broadcast a number of selected football and basketball games during the 2016-17 academic year, and as part of the arrangement with the Sinclair Broadcast Group kickoff times and television information were released for the University of South Alabama's first two league football games this fall.

The Jaguars will play host to Georgia Southern on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. (CDT) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in their home and Sun Belt opener, while the following week USA will visit Louisiana-Lafayette with that match-up slated with a start time still to be determined.  Both contests will be broadcast on ASN on "over-the-air" and cable affiliates, and will also be available without blackout restrictions on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The sublicense agreement reached by ESPN and ASN allows the Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned network to produce and distribute Sun Belt Conference games via Sinclair affiliate television stations and other over the air and cable stations nationwide.  Sinclair Broadcast Group is the largest owner of television stations in the United States, currently owning or operating 173 television stations in 81 markets nationwide and having affiliations with all the major networks.

Additional games to be broadcast on ASN will be released at later dates by the network and the Sun Belt office.

The Jags have two other nationally-televised broadcasts set for the upcoming season.  South will begin the campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Mississippi State, with the game slated to air on the SEC Network at 11 a.m., while the Jaguars' Thursday, Oct. 20 match-up with Troy in the "Battle For The Belt" will be broadcast on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m.
