TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 1 seed Florida State hit six home runs in an 18-6 win over the third-seeded University of South Alabama baseball team to clinch the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Sunday at Dick Howser Stadium.

FSU (40-20) recorded 19 hits in the game, led by Dylan Busby who went 3-for-6 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored.

South Alabama (42-22) jumped out to a one-run lead in the bottom of the first inning on a leadoff solo home run by Travis Swaggerty – his fourth of the season – to right field.

But the 12th-ranked Seminoles reeled of 18 runs over the next six innings, highlighted by a seven-run third inning.

FSU scored four runs in the top of the second to take a three-run lead. Busby's two-run home run to center field gave the Seminoles a 2-1 lead. A two-out, two-run double by Taylor Walls later in the inning, following a pair of walks by USA starter Hunter Soleymani, extended the Seminole lead to 4-1.

The Seminoles then took a 10-run lead when they sent nine runs across in the top of the third inning, highlighted by three home runs. Jackson Lueck reached on a leadoff walk before Cal Raleigh delivered a two-run home run to right field to extend the FSU lead to 6-1. Busby followed with a solo home run for a 7-1 advantage. Quincy Nieporte then singled to left field before Tyler Holton homered to right field to push the FSU lead to 9-1. Matt Henderson drew a one-out walk, and scored on a two-out double down the left field line by John Sansone to give the Seminoles a 10-1 lead. Leuck followed with an RBI single to center field for an 11-1 lead.

USA threatened in the bottom of the third, but failed to push across a run. Ben Gann reached on a throwing error by FSU shortstop Walls with one out in the inning, and advanced to third on a double to right field by Swaggerty. But FSU right-hander Cole Sands ended the threat with a strikeout of Cole Billingsley and an inning-ending lineout to first base off the bat of Drew LaBounty.

Florida State added four runs in the top of the fifth on a one-out, three-run home run to center field, and a two-out RBI single to center field by Nieporte for a 15-1 lead.

The Seminoles added two runs in the top of the sixth on a one-out, two-run single to center field by Sansone to push their lead to 17-1. Hayden Kelly gave FSU an 18-1 lead with a one-out solo home run to right field in the top of the seventh.

South Alabama answered with its final three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Ben Gann doubled to right-center field with one out in the inning, and Swaggerty followed with a single through the left side of the infield. Jalen Haskin then drove in Gann when he reached on a fielding error by FSU second baseman Hank Truluck to cut the Seminole lead to 18-2. Ryan Raspino followed with an RBI double down the left field line to plate Swaggerty and cut the FSU lead to 18-3. A one-out walk by Danny Martinez loaded the bases for Brendan Donovan, who delivered an RBI single to center field to score Haskin and cut the Seminole lead to 18-4.

Gann added the game's final runs in the bottom of the ninth on a two-run home run to left field.

"Our guys have nothing to hang their heads about," USA head coach Mark Calvi said. "We had a great season; we were (Sun Belt Conference) regular season co-champions and reach an NCAA Regional final. We had some really good seniors who showed some very good leadership for our younger guys. We had three younger kids in the lineup pretty much every day this year. They got some great experience, and had some really good younger guys to learn from and bounce things off of when things got tough. I'm going to miss this group; this is a great group and they will go down as one of my favorite groups since I have been coaching."

Swaggerty tied a career high with three hits, finishing 3-for-5 with a double, one home run, one RBI and two runs scored to lead the Jags at the plate. Gann went 2-for-4 with a double, one home run, two RBI and two runs scored.

Swaggerty was named to the NCAA Tallahassee All-Regional team after batting .412 with one double, one triple, one home run, two RBI, four runs scored and one stolen base in four games.

FSU right-hander Cole Sands (6-6) allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts in five innings pitched to earn the win. Soleymani (4-4) allowed six runs on three hits with three strikeouts and five walks in two innings pitched in the loss.
