MESSER EARNS THIRD CAREER SBC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM NOD

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama softball senior third baseman Emily Messer was named to the 2016 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team on championship Saturday, earning the distinction for the third time in her career.

Messer recorded four hits in USA's three games at the event, scoring twice and drawing a pair of walks. She went 3-for-4 versus Texas State in the opener and scored a run apiece against Louisiana-Monroe and Georgia State.

The Mobile, Ala., native was voted to the SBC All-Tournament Team as a sophomore in 2014 after going 6-for-9 with three runs and two RBI and as a junior last season after back-to-back 2-for-4 performances with two runs and two RBI.

The 31st pick in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch Draft, selected by the Akron Racers, Messer is in line to finish with the best batting average in a season in school history, hitting .429. Messer already set a new season record in hits with 76, surpassing Tara Donaldson's 2007 standard of 71.
