JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League announced Sunday that the organization has signed former University of South Alabama tight end Braedon Bowman as an undrafted rookie free agent.
Bowman will report with eight other free-agent signees and the Jaguars' seven draft selections for a rookie orientation at EverBank Field Thursday-Saturday.
In two seasons at the NCAA Division I level, Bowman caught 29 passes for 381 yards in 23 contests. In his first campaign with the Jaguars after transferring from Scottsdale (Ariz.) C.C. he recorded 18 receptions for 234 yards as USA participated in its first-ever postseason bowl game at the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. As a senior, the Mesa, Ariz., native finished with 11 catches for 147 yards, as he would rank second among the team's tight ends in receptions and receiving yards both years.
Bowman came to South after earning first-team National Junior College Athletic Association All-America honors in 2013, when he posted 66 catches for 1,030 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He is the third former Jaguar currently with an NFL team heading into offseason workouts. Wes Saxton is set to begin his second year with the New York Jets, while Montell Garner signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in February.
