Head coach Joey Jones-
On his overall thoughts of the scrimmage: "Overall, I thought we had a good scrimmage. I thought the defense really stepped up today, especially the starters. We played much better than we played earlier. Offensively, I didn't think we had consistent play. We ran the ball well, but the passing game wasn't very consistent. The kicking game was good too, as usual."
-
On what he was looking to work on in the scrimmage: "I told the players this is their time to shine. We're trying to build an identity with this team. They're starting to build one, and that's what I was looking for as a team. As individuals, I'm looking for guys that I can count on next fall because there's not much more time for us to give those three's and four guys reps. We're starting to narrow things down, and we're possibly looking at a two-deep or even possibly three. But a lot of guys played themselves into a position today."
-
On which individuals stood out to him: "I thought Milton Revell had a great day running the football. He was a surprise for us. He got in there with the starters and had some good runs. On defense, I thought Jimmie Gipson played well. He had a lot of intensity, and I thought the defense fed off of his energy."
Up next: The will open the final week of spring drills Monday at 3 p.m. on campus
