OPENING TIP
South Alabama has played just two Ohio Valley Conference schools in the last 15 years, losing 68-57 to Tennessee State in 2012-13 and defeating Morehead State 70-55 in 2006-07. Monday will be the first meeting between South Alabama and Belmont.

The Jaguars are averaging 32.3 points with a 31.8 shooting percentage in the first half this season, but 42.3 points and 44.7 percent after halftime. USA had 38 points and hit 48.5 percent of its shots last week at LSU after going for 28 points and 31.3 percent in the first half.

Ken Williams has been the team's best second-half performer with a 9.8 points average and had eight at LSU.

Nick Stover had 11 of his team-high 13 points after halftime, and shot 6 for 9 from the floor for the contest. He set a new career high in the season opener vs. Auburn-Montgomery with 17 points.

Stover was one of four Jaguars in double-figure points against the Tigers, the most in a game this season.

Georgi Boyanov was one of that group with a season-best 12 points, but was held to three rebounds, his lowest total in a game this year. He led the team on the backboards in each of the first two outings and leads the team with 7.0 per game (13th in the Sun Belt).

Also doing work on the boards was Don MuepoKelly, who recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and a personal-best 10 rebounds off the bench. It is also the first double-double by a Jaguar in 2015-16.

Despite his recent shooting slump, Williams has three assists in every game so far, leads the team with nine on the season, and ranks tied for fifth in the Sun Belt with a 3.0 assist/turnover ratio.

Williams had two 3-pointers at LSU, and now needs four to tie for fifth place in school history. He currently has 149.

Shaq Calhoun has the team's highest points-per-40-minutes average, with 22.9. He had a season-best eight in 12 minutes at LSU, and is tied for seventh in the conference with a 50.0 3-point percentage (4 for 8). He also pulled down a career-best five rebounds last Thursday.
