JAG WOMEN’S GOLF TO OPEN PLAY AT BLUE RAIDER INVITATIONAL

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's golf team will compete in the Blue Raider Invitational at Old Fort Golf Club Oct. 19-20 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

USA will compete against Central Arkansas, Little Rock, Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky, Troy, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Missouri-Kansas City, Boston College, Texas-El Paso, Jacksonville State, Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, Belmont, Texas-Rio Grande Valley and host Middle Tennessee in the two-day, 54-hole event. Old Fort GC will play at 6,369 yards and par 72.

Caroline Beebe leads the Jaguars and ranks in the top 25 in the Sun Belt Conference with a 77.17 stroke average through two tournaments, and has recorded two top-20 finishes in each event. USA has one top-five finish this season, which came in the season opener at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate. The Jags enter the Blue Raider Invitational with a 77.96 individual stroke average, and a 311.83 team stroke average through six rounds.

"We have concentrated on improving our short game," head coach Matt Luther said. "We have addressed some putting and chipping issues, and just the easy stuff – we have to be good at the easy ones. We are doing some things well. We have a different player who seems to be playing well each time, which is good. If we can get everyone playing well at the same time then we are going to have something. We just keep having to count a high score. We're on our third different lineup heading into our third tournament. It's just about putting the right pieces together at the right time, and everybody picking up a shot.

The USA lineup will feature Beebe, MacKenzie Peyton, Madison Connell, Elisa Axelsen and Carianne Wright. Live scoring for the Blue Raider Invitational will be available at GolfStat.com. The tournament will kick off with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start Monday, followed by an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for Tuesday's final round.

USA last competed in the Blue Raider Invitational in 2013, where it finished tied for fifth place after posting a three-round team total of 907.
