Offensive Player of the Day
Drew Dearman, Sr., OL, Vestavia Hills, Ala.
-Offensive coordinator Robert Matthews on Dearman:  "Drew brings a lot of experience and consistency to the offensive line. He is a tough guy, and we know that we can count on him."

Defensive Player of the Day
Jimmie Gipson III, Jr., DE/OLB, Coldwater, Miss.
-Defensive coordinator Travis Pearson on Gipson III:  "I was glad to see Jimmie make it through practice today coming off of an injury. I didn't see any signs of him slowing down or anything that made me think he wasn't Jimmie Gipson that we brought in, so it was good to see him out here. He brings speed and power to the defense."

Play of the Day
Defensive back Margo Reed intercepted a Matt Floyd pass with an over-the-shoulder catch in the corner of the end zone during 7-on-7 pass drills.

Team period highlight
The Jaguars worked in two team periods during Monday's practice. The first team period saw the offense run approximately 20 plays against the blitz. The final team period consisted of the offense working against the defense for nearly 20 minutes with each drive at the offense's 40-yard line.

Head coach Joey Jones
-On today's practice:  "The defense came out and played well. They brought some emotion out to practice today. The offense didn't execute very well. We didn't have the attitude we needed to have, but that's one of the few bad days we have had offensively. There's always tomorrow, and we will see how they respond."

Miscellaneous Notes
-Matt Floyd connected with freshman tight end Jarrius Hackworth for a 30-plus yard pass play during team period.
-Former Jaguars Cori Barnett and Andy Dalgleish were in attendance at Monday's workout.
-USA closed Monday's practice with work on punt returns.
