MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama football quarterback Brandon Bridge has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2015 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl as announced Thursday.
The all-star game features draft-eligible seniors, and will kick off at 3 p.m. (CT) Sat., Jan. 17, at StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif. The game will be televised live on ESPN2, while ESPNU will broadcast live from practices Jan. 14-15.
Former National Football League head coaches Mike Holmgren and Mike Martz will serve as head coaches for each respective team; however, neither team rosters nor full coaching staffs have been completed.
In 10 games this season, Bridge has completed 140-of-270 passes for 1,648 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Mississauga, Ontario, native has also rushed for 256 yards and three touchdowns on 85 attempts to help the USA offense average over 372 yards of total offense per game.
Bridge was named to the 2015 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List at the beginning of the season, and earned Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors Oct. 20 after a 30-27 Homecoming win over Georgia State in which he passed for 126 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 137 yards and one score. In the Jaguars' season finale against Navy, Bridge set a school game record with four touchdown passes.
He is the third Jaguar to earn an invitation to the all-star game after former Jag standouts Jake Johnson and B.J. Scott played in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Bridge will close out his USA career Sat., Dec. 20, when South Alabama faces Bowling Green in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Ala., at 8:15 p.m. (CST) at Cramton Bowl in a game that will be broadcast live on ESPN.
