MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama football team worked out for just over two hours Tuesday at the practice fields on campus.
The Jaguars spent 15 minutes on special teams – kickoff and punt coverage – to open practice, which was followed by individual and position drills. The offense followed with work on inside runs which led into 7-on-7 skeleton pass drills that lasted for nearly 20 minutes.
USA then came together for a team period with the offense going against the defense for nearly 70 plays. Special teams work closed practice with the field goal unit working from beyond the 25-yard line.
“Today was okay, but I don’t think we had a great practice,” head coach Joey Jones said. “We had some good things happen, but the timing was a little bit off. Having a couple days off and going back to school, I think they had a lot on their minds. But we need to come back and have a better practice tomorrow.
“We need to come out with a great effort and attitude toward practice. If we do that then we have a shot, but we have to practice better than that.”
South Alabama will practice at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the practice fields on campus. All Jaguar practices are closed to the general public.
