USA's Nini Rabsatt-Smith scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday.
Box Score

JONESBORO, Ark. – University of South Alabama women's soccer scored two second half goals and clinched its seventh shutout of the year on Sunday at Arkansas State to cap a two-win Sun Belt Conference road weekend.

Nini Rabsatt-Smith and Clarissa Hernandez each converted in the space of 10 minutes midway through the second period by way of Lauren Allison's two assists, as USA (9-3-2, 2-0-1 SBC) won its second league match in a row, 2-0, drawing level its record away from home (3-3-1) and handing the Red Wolves their first home loss in 2013.

"It's always huge in this league to get a win on the road," said USA head coach Graham Winkworth. "But to do it twice in one weekend is massive. A lot of credit goes to our back line, who are playing with great confidence."

Arkansas State (6-5-2, 1-2 SBC), in fact, outshot the Jaguars on Sunday, 15-7, and tested USA keeper Melissa Drish five times in the first 45, but the senior made five of her seven total saves before the break en route to recording her fifth shutout of the season.

Rabsatt-Smith led the Jags offensively with three shots, all on target, and her best effort found the net in the 66th minute when she crushed Allison's cross into the upper right corner of Amanda Lee's net. Allison forced Lee to work shortly thereafter, and delivered to Hernandez in the 75th for the senior to finish into an open net.

"Lauren was phenomenal today and Nini and Rizzo did well to finish their chances," added Winkworth. "We had to adapt our style to a difficult playing surface, and the girls gave great effort. We hope to continue this momentum in our next match at Georgia State."

Allison produced four points on the weekend to extend her year's total to 29, tied for seventh-most in USA single-season history. Rabsatt-Smith's goal was the first of her career.

Hernandez's goal was her fifth of the year, which, paired with a couple of assists, makes for 12 points on the year and 46 in her career. The senior midfielder is now one point away from breaking into USA's all-time top 10 in the category.

South Alabama now looks to an October 10 contest with Georgia State in Atlanta. The Jaguars will put to the test a two-match road win streak against the Panthers, who have managed only one win in four matches at home this year.
