MOBILE, Ala. — University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann announced Friday times for the Jaguars’ first three football games of the 2012 campaign.
The Jags — who are entering the second of a two-year transition to the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision — will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 30, with a 6:30 p.m. start against Texas-San Antonio at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It will be a rematch of a contest that USA won 27-20 in double overtime in San Antonio on Oct. 8 last fall.
The following week, the Jaguars will take on Nicholls State at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. The game will mark the Colonels’ second visit to Mobile, as the Jags earned a 39-21 victory on Sept. 18, 2010, in the program’s first-ever meeting with an NCAA Division I foe.
USA’s initial road game at North Carolina State will kick off at 5 p.m. (CDT) on Sept. 15 and can be seen live on ESPN3. All other times will be released at a later date.
