SOUTH ALABAMA SOCCER FALLS TO UALR, 3-2

Clarissa Hernandez scored her second goal of the season off a penalty kick.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –University of South Alabama soccer fell to UALR, 3-2 Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action in Little Rock, Ark.

USA (4-12-1, 2-6) took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when Clarissa Hernandez scored her second goal of the season off a penalty kick.

UALR’s (6-11, 2-6) Taylor Gabbert scored two back-to-back goals in the 33rd and the 42nd minute respectively to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead before the end of the half.

The Jags evened the score in the 70th minute when junior Brandi Smith scored her fourth goal of the season from 10 yards out.

Adrian Queen scored the match-winning goal for UALR in the 80th minute.

“It was another disappointing loss,” USA head coach Mike Varga said. “We dominated in the second half outshooting UALR 10-2, but unfortunately we were unable to get the save.”
 
The Jags return to SBC action Thursday against Middle Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at The Cage.
