SOCCER FALLS TO LA.-LAFAYETTE, 1-0

MOBILE, Ala. - Louisiana-Lafayette forward Cayla Chatman scored the game-winning goal in the 13th minute of the first half, as University of South Alabama soccer fell to the Ragin' Cajuns, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at The Cage.

Chatman took a pass from Kelli Jestes and netted the game-winner into the left net on a breakaway.

USA (3-14-1, 1-8-1) outshot La.-Lafayette 14-9 in the match, while both teams managed seven shots on goal.

"This is sort of how the season has gone for us," USA head coach Mike Varga said. "We did enough to win, and did enough to lose and we found a way to lose the game. We made an early mistake where we gave the ball away and gave up a breakaway, and we gave away the one goal. We're good enough to score on this team, but we just didn't have the answer in the final third of the match."

The Jaguars return to action Fri., Oct. 30, with a 3 p.m. match at Troy to close out Sun Belt Conference play.
