FALGOUT LIFTS JAGS OVER ULM FOR FIRST SBC WIN

MOBILE, Ala. - University of South Alabama senior Rebecca Falgout scored the game-winning goal in the 38th minute of the first half to lift the Jaguars over Louisiana-Monroe (2-12-2, 1-7-0), 1-0, Friday night at The Cage.

Falgout took a pass from Landi Wilson at midfield and netted a shot from 30 yards out for the game's only goal, and the first of her four-year career at USA.

"I thought our effort was good," USA head coach Mike Varga said. "We definitely created a lot of chances tonight. When you have a team that works hard like Louisiana-Monroe does, you have to put away those chances. We were fortunate enough to hold on, keep the shutout and get the win."

USA goalkeeper Katie Berry recorded seven saves in her third shutout of the season. The Jaguars outshot La.-Monroe 18-7 in the contest, and held a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal.

USA (3-13-1, 1-7-1) returns to action Sunday when it hosts La.-Lafayette at 1 p.m. at The Cage. Nine USA seniors will be honored during a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day.
