JAGUARS? LANGFORD BREAKS CAREER SAVES RECORD IN LOSS TO LAMAR

BEAUMONT, Texas ? The University of South Alabama soccer team fell to Lamar 2-1 Friday night in Beaumont, Texas.

 

"We're not playing as well as we need to right now," USA head coach Mike Varga said. "Hopefully we'll have a good, light practice tomorrow and bounce back on Sunday." 

 

USA goalkeeper Kelsie Langford recorded three saves in the contest, making her the program’s all-time career saves leader with 306.

 

Lamar (1-2) took a 1-0 lead at the 11:37 mark of the first half on an unassisted goal by Aline Pugliesi.

 

The Cardinals extended their lead to 2-0 at the 47:32 mark of the second half when Rachelle Barry scored from eight yards out on an assist from Carrie Mrazek.

 

South Alabama forward Brandi Smith scored the Jags’ lone goal of the game at the 80:16 mark of the second half from 18 yards out off an assist from Kelly Tarrant.

 

With the loss, USA falls to 1-3 on the season. The Jags will look to rebound on Sunday when they face Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
