Potgieter had a strong showing over the weekend at the 2018 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships in Mobile on Saturday finishing sixth in the men's 8k. With the sixth-place finish, Potgieter picked up second-team all-league honors, marking the second straight-season Potgieter has earned the honor, but the first second-team accolade. Potgieter has now led the Jaguar men in each of the last three races. His time of 25:06.13 was also the fastest 8k time this season by a South Alabama runner, trimming 30 seconds off the previous low mark. It also set a new 8k personal best for Potgieter, eclipsing his previous personal best by eight seconds.
