Kotze won the shot put at the BSC Panther Indoor Invitational to begin the indoor season, adding a sixth-place finish in the weight throw to help the Jaguars come in third place out of 15 schools in the team standings.  The junior's mark of 15.27m in the shot put was the best of his career as he claimed the event by more than 4 1/2 feet over the runner-up, while with a 12.79m distance in the weight throw he was able to score a point for USA.
