Metheny was voted the Jaguar Male Student-Athlete of the Year after guiding USA to a 6-6 record and bowl eligibility in the program's first full season at the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision level, including helping the Jags tie for third in the league standings with a 4-3 mark.  After leading the SBC in total offense, and ranking in the top 50 nationally in that category as well as passing efficiency and passing yards per game, the senior was named second-team all-conference.
