Ty Singletary begins his first year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at the University of South Alabama, coming to the Jags from the Big Sky Conference.
Singletary joined the Big Sky Conference in 2018 and served as the league’s Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Technology up until his departure in October 2022. He spearheaded all compliance efforts for the conference and its members. He coordinated much of the league’s “Big Sky U” professional development initiative over the last year, and was the liaison for the conference’s Name, Image, and Likeness taskforce.
He also had oversight of technology and insurance services for the conference office. Additionally, he was the Sport Administrator for women’s soccer.
Previously, Singletary served as the Big Sky’s Assistant Director of Compliance before being promoted in September of 2018 to drop ‘assistant’ off the title and serve as the league’s primary compliance liaison.
He arrived at the Big Sky Conference after a two-year stint at Mississippi State University as a compliance graduate assistant. While at Mississippi State, Singletary worked primarily with recruiting monitoring, education, interpretations, and initial- and transfer-eligibility assessments. In addition to his everyday duties, Singletary was the primary compliance contact for women’s volleyball and softball.
Singletary began his college education at Bishop State Community College in Mobile. He was a two-year starter at shortstop for the baseball team, where he earned Coca-Cola Community College All-USA Team accolades.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Social Sciences from Alabama State University in 2016 and a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Mississippi State in 2017.
A native of Mobile, Singletary and his wife Lily Welch reside in his hometown.
