Kevin Beasley

Kevin Beasley joined the University  of South Alabama Athletic Media Relations staff in November 2001 as a student assistant. After later serving a pair of graduate assistant positions, he was promoted to Media Relations Assistant Director in June of 2004 and then promoted to his current position of Associate Director of Communications & Digital Media in 2017.

While he has served as the media liaison to numerous programs during his tenure with the Jaguars, he currently serves as the primary contact for the softball and cross country programs and secondary contact for football, and oversees and serves as a mentor for the interns in the office.

Among his day-to-day duties, Beasley is responsible for generating and developing communications and presenting a branded messaging for the athletic department, while also producing content for the athletic web site, game notes and publications for assigned sports. As a member of the South Alabama Communications & Digital Media department, he has helped develop a comprehensive communications strategy to maintain consistent framework.

Beasley is responsible for the development and maintenance of social media accounts to promote university activities by utilizing a variety of mediums to enhance communications and branding, while also aiding in the maintenance of the athletic web site. 

During his time at South Alabama Beasley has helped promote and market numerous student-athletes who have received national, regional and all-conference accolades, working with 12 All-Americans, 22 all-region, 159 all-Sun Belt Conference selections, as well as three conference coaches of the year, four freshmen and four newcomers of the year and 10 league players of the year. He has also had the privilege of covering six conference championship teams, six individual conference champions and 10 players who were signed to play in the National Football League, including current members Jeremy Reaves (Washington Commanders), Gerald Everett (??) and Jalen Tolbert (Dallas Cowboys. 

During the fall of 205, Beasley implemented and led a social media campaign which helped volleyball player Mechell Daniel capture the HERO Sports Gem of the Week national award, as Daniel received 1,144 of the 2,664 votes cast, 293 more that the closest competitor. The 1,144 votes were more than any other athlete received in any of the 12 weekly polls, and the award made her eligible for the year-end poll, which she finished second.

He has been as the media coordinator for numerous conference and NCAA Regional tournaments and events, while also serving as interim director of the department on two occasions, most recently from February-June, 2022.

In the spring of 2008, Beasley was selected as the recipient of the Matt Smith Award at the annual athletic department banquet, and was part of the Jaguar football communications staff (football) given “Super 11” Award by the Football Writers Association of America in 2018.

Beasley earned his Master of Arts degree in Communications from USA in August 2003. The Montgomery, Ala., native also holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Auburn University (1999).  He has also worked with the Mobile Seagulls (IAFL), Mobile Wizards (Arena 2) and served two seasons as official scorer of the Mobile Baybears, who was the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks at the time.

He is married to Karla Phillips Beasley and the couple has a daughter, Avery and a son, Jackson.
