JT Crabtree joined the South Alabama staff in the Summer of 2014 as the halftime show host and in-game engineer for Jaguar football radio broadcasts. He then served in the role of Social Media Coordinator/Broadcaster beginning in August 2015 before being promoted to Assistant Director of Broadcasting/Sales Executive in August 2017. Crabtree was elevated to his current position of Director of Broadcasting in June 2025.
Crabtree is the on-air radio voice of the football, men’s basketball and baseball teams, providing play-by-play coverage of all home and road contests on the Jags Radio Network. Crabtree is also responsible for producing all Jags Radio Network broadcasts, and postgame and edited content, including game highlights and weekly podcasts. He also serves as play-by-play for select ESPN+ broadcasts. Crabtree has twice been named Mobile's "Best Sports Radio Host" by Lagniappe (2021, 2023). Crabtree is also the faculty mentor for the university's sports broadcasting internship program.
Crabtree also previously worked as part of the sponsorship sales team in Jaguar Sports Properties, selling sponsorship packages and generating revenue for the department. He also previously served as the social media coordinator of the South Alabama Athletic department, creating digital graphics, ads and social media posts across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat promoting all 17 Jaguar sports. He was also responsible for creating Jaguar Magazine, the football gameday program printed for each home game, as well as designing football and men's basketball season tickets and other marketing assets. He was also previously the play-by-play announcer of Jaguar women's basketball and softball. Â
Prior to his work with South Alabama, Crabtree worked with USA’s student radio station, The Prowl, as the Director of Sports for the 2013-14 academic school year, hosting two weekly sports shows in addition to providing commentary for a number of South Alabama games, including football, men’s basketball, baseball and softball. Crabtree was also responsible for selling sports sponsorships. Crabtree also spent three years on staff with The Vanguard, South Alabama’s student newspaper, including serving two years as an editor.
He was also a contributing writer for 247 Sports, covering Jaguar football practices as well as recruiting news from 2011-2014.
Born and raised in Mobile, Crabtree graduated from South Alabama in the spring of 2014 with a degree in communications. He and his wife, Kimberly - also a graduate of South Alabama - reside in Mobile with their daughter, Ellie.
