Emily Newton is entering her third season as an assistant coach with South Alabama women's tennis.

In her two seasons in Mobile, Newton led the Jaguars to the Sun Belt Tournament Finals and assisted with the development of six all-conference players. Newton's Jaguars have ranked as high as 41st in the nation.

Prior to South Alabama, Newton served as an assistant coach at Baylor in 2015-16, where she led the Bears to an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.

Newton is a South Alabama alumni and former student-athlete, graduating in 2014 with a degree in business. When she played with the Jaguars, she earned several Sun Belt honors, including being named to the all-conference doubles team three times and all-conference singles two times. She was also named to the all-conference team in 2012.

Additionally, Newton was a Lubel Award recipient, an award given to exceptional tennis athletes at South Alabama. She was also an ITA Academic Scholar.

Before her time with the Jags, Newton played for Auburn, where she competed at All-Americans. In high school, she was a 2 6A State Champion in juniors and won 16 Junior Nationals, 18 Junior Nationals and was ranked as high as 20th in the nation in juniors.

Newton resides in Mobile with her dog, Boone.
