Courtney West joined South Alabama as the Assistant Director of Creative Services (Design) in December of 2023. She oversees the creative aspects of photography and design for all sports. Since joining South Alabama, she has helped lead several social media campaigns that have gained national attention for South Alabama Athletics, including recognition from ESPN. Her design work has led her to be recognized 10 times by the nationally acclaimed collegiate athletics creative platform, SkullSparks.
Prior to her time at South Alabama, she served in different roles at Southern Miss, where she held the roles of Intern, Creative Content Assistant, and Graduate Assistant from 2021-2023. West’s primary role was creating social media content for several programs including baseball, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Volleyball; she assisted with content for football, and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. She was also tasked with managing and scheduling assignments for the creative student intern team.
During her time at Southern Miss, she was part of the 2022 baseball program that hosted the C-USA tournament, NCAA Hattiesburg Regional Champions, and NCAA Hattiesburg Super Regional appearance; 2023 Sun Belt Tournament Champions, NCAA Auburn Regional Champions, NCAA Hattiesburg Super Regional appearance. All of which built to be historical years for the program whose content and success gained national attraction on several major platforms such as NCAA Baseball and ESPN social media accounts.
She received her Associate’s degree at Hinds Community College (Raymond, Miss.) in Spring of 2019. West then became a two-time graduate of Southern Miss by earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 2021, and her Master’s Degree in Sport Management in 2023.
