Bryant Ross

Bryant Ross was hired as South Alabama's offensive line coach in Jan. 2026.

Ross joined the Jaguars after a one-year stint as the offensive line coach at Georgia State.

South Alabama will be Ross’ third stop at a Sun Belt Conference school in three years. Prior to joining Georgia State, Ross was the offensive line coach at Louisiana from 2022-24. The Ragin’ Cajuns appeared in three-straight bowl games during that time and went 10-4 in 2024 with an appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. During the 2022 campaign, Ross’ offensive line unit ranked as the conference’s second-best run blocking unit in the league.

During the 2021 season, Ross was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Grambling State. The offensive line saw drastic improvement under Ross’ leadership, cutting its sack total in half from 30 to 15 from the previous season. The head coach at Grambling that season was current South Alabama running backs coach, Broderick Fobbs.

Before his year at Grambling, Ross was on staff for his first stint at Louisiana from 2018-20. The Cajuns recorded double-digit wins in back-to-back seasons in 2019 and 2020 with back-to-back bowl wins. Louisiana climbed as high as No. 15 in the AP poll in 2020. During the 2019 season, Louisiana set numerous program records, including total offense (6,918), total touchdowns (69), most rushing yards (3,604), most rushing touchdowns (42) and most passing touchdowns (27), among others.

Ross was instrumental in developing Robert Hunt and Kevin Dotson into NFL draft picks during his time with the Ragin’ Cajuns. Hunt became the third-highest draft pick in team history when he was selected 39th overall by the Miami Dolphins, while Dotson, who was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press, USA Today, Sports Illustrated and Pro Football Focus and a Second Team All-American by Sporting News, was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 135th pick.

Ross’ first opportunity at the Division I level was at Mississippi State where he was a graduate assistant on the offensive line. In 2017, his unit helped improve the Bulldog rushing attack from 23rd nationally (2,900 yards) in 2016 to 11th nationally (3,300 yards) in 2017. Ross once again coached multiple NFL draft picks at Mississippi State in Elgton Jenkins, a second-round pick by Green Bay Packers, Tyree Phillips, a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens and Martinas Rankin, a third-round pick by the Houston Texans.

Prior to his time at Mississippi State, Ross was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Central State University from 2014-16. In his first season, the Marauders gave up just 11 sacks, which was the second least among all SIAC schools and ranked 36th best in all of Division II. The offensive line paved the way for the conference's third-best rushing attack, averaging 183 yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry.

Ross started his career as the offensive line coach at West Hills College. There, he helped the team improve its win total from two to 10, and win the Northern California Conference Championship. West Hills also earned its first bowl win since 1982.

An Atlanta native, Ross started his collegiate playing career at West Hills Community College before transferring to Alabama A&M and finishing his career as an offensive lineman. Ross and his wife, Brittany, have one daughter named Brooklynn.
