Biography

AT SOUTH ALABAMA
After spending the past two seasons away from volleyball to concentrate on track, Schwartz returns to the volleyball court for her final season of eligibility this season…Coming into the 2012 season, her 1.12 career blocks per set average is third highest in program history, while her 203 career block assists are tied for fifth and her 216 total blocks are 10th on the all-time chart.

SENIOR AND JUNIOR SEASONS WITH TRACK (2010-11 AND 2011-12):  Named the Jaguar Female Athlete-of-the-Year and the school’s NCAA Woman of the Year nominee at the athletic department’s annual Pete Tolbert Night of Champoions awards ceromony…Has earned both all-conference and All-American honors competing in multiple events over the past two seasons…(2012 INDOOR) - Finished 13th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships after scoring 3,951 points…Captured her second-consecutive pentathlon league title with 3,996 points to set new conference record at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships.…Recorded a school-record 3,835 points in the indoor pentathlon at the Birmingham Ice Breaker, earning Female Field Athlete of the Week honors for her performance.. (2012 OUTDOOR) - Ranked ninth?? in the NCAA in the heptathlon – standing fourth in the NCAA East Region and first in the conference…Scored a school-record 5,468 points at the Texas Relays and was named the SBC’s Female Field Athlete of the Week for the effort…Ranked second in the league in the high jump, fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, sixth in the long jump and 10th in the 400-meter hurdles…(2011 OUTDOOR) - Named to USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team and finished 13th overall at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning second-team All-American honors in the heptathlon with 5,274 points…Posted a heptathlon point total of 5,318, which was good enough to earn gold and break the league record at the SBC Outdoor Championships, while also finishing third in the women’s high jump…(2011 INDOOR) - Won the pentathlon with a 3,585 point total at the SBC Championships.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2009): Started 27 of the 30 matches in which she competed…Led the team and ranked second in the Sun Belt Conference in blocks with 1.10 per set…Her bps average still ranks seventh-best for a single season at USA…Posted 107 total blocks – four solo and 103 block assists…Her block assists and total block tallies rank fourth and seventh, respectively, all-time in a single season…She also registered 188 kills and 1.94 kills per set – both third highest on the club...Her .208 hitting percentage was highest on the team…Also had 18 service aces…Recorded a career-best 11 total blocks (10 BA, 1 BS) against Denver (10/24) – tied for the fourth highest in a single match in the SBC that season…Had 12 matches of four blocks or better…Had a season-high five service aces in the season-opener versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8/28)…Recorded seven or more kills 15 times – five in double figures – including a season-best 13 (13-4-29-.321) at Louisiana Tech at the Lady Techster Tournament in Ruston, La. (8/29)…Had matches of a .300 or better attack percentage nine times, including a season-high .571 (4-0-7) versus New Orleans (10/10)...Finished with 12 kills and two errors one 29 attacks (.345) against North Texas (10/23)…Had 21 matches with three attack errors or less…Named to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2008): Was one of the top freshman in the Sun Belt Conference…Started all 26 matches for the Jags at the middle blocker position…Ranked third on the team in kills with 204, while averaging 2.12 kills per set, also third on the team…Set a new freshman mark for block assists at South Alabama with 100 – fourth most ever in a single season…Ranked second in the SBC in blocks with 1.14 per set – 53rd in the final NCAA rankings…In the Sun Belt Conference tournament match against Florida International (11/20), she recorded a .521 hitting percentage (11 kills, 21 attacks, 0 errors)…Ended the year with eight double digit kill matches, including a season-high 17 in a crucial 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Troy (11/07)…Also had a season-high two service aces against the Trojans…Posted matches of five blocks or more on 10 occasions, including a season-high nine against Jackson State (9/20)…Was a member of the South Alabama Track & Field team during her freshman season in nine track meets, competing in the 55-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles and the high jump…Awarded the University of South Alabama’s Aurelia Crowell Award for the Most Outstanding Freshman Based on Excellence in Academics and Athletics…Named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List.

AT EMMAUS HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered four years in volleyball at Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pa…Was a three-year starter for the Hornets…Named Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class AAA all-state team as a senior…Selected to the all-District 11 first team that same season…Also named to the 2007 Lehigh Division all-league, Lehigh Conference all-valley and Morning Call all-area first teams as a senior… Was the team’s most valuable player in 2007 and attended the 2007 and 2008 A1 USA High Performance Development Camp…Ended her prep career holding the school records for kills, aces and blocks in a single season at Emmaus…Played six seasons of club ball as an outside hitter for the Revolution Volleyball Club in Chambersburg, Pa.
