Anthony Yerardi

Anthony Yerardi came to South Alabama after spending the 2016 season as a volunteer assistant coach at UNLV.

In 2017, Yerardi's first year with the Jaguar program, South Alabama led the Sun Belt Conference in blocks per set (2.58), and ranked second in the league in opponent hitting percentage (.164). Yerardi helped guide the program to a school-best 12 SBC wins and a second-place finish in the SBC East Division. South Alabama’s 17 wins in 2017 were the most the most by a Jaguar team since the 1994 squad finished with 17 victories.

Middle blocker Kelley Hartman was named First-Team All-SBC and received American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Southeast honorable mention after leading the conference in blocks per set (1.29), and finishing second in hitting percentage (.321). Outside hitter Kristina Alabastro earned Second-Team All-SBC accolades in 2017 as well.

In his first season of collegiate coaching experience, Yerardi helped the Rebels to a first-round win over Utah in the NCAA Tournament. UNLV setter Alexis Patterson and opposite hitter Bree Hammel were named all-conference after training under Yerardi. The Rebels started the season with the best record in school history going 16-1 in the first 17 matches.

Before starting at the collegiate level, Yerardi coached at BBC Las Vegas for four years, and also started his own non-profit club – Vegas Velocity – which was in its inaugural season when he accepted his position at USA. He played club volleyball in his youth for the Arizona Rage under head coach Gary Durrett, who played volleyball at BYU, and helped the Rage to two straight appearances at junior nationals.  He was also named to the all-state team in Arizona his senior year of high school as a setter.

Yerardi received a double major in English and political science from Arizona State.  After graduating undergrad he went on to obtain his Juris Doctor degree from Drake University.
