Biography

AT SOUTH ALABAMA
SENIOR SEASON (2021)    

• Made 19 appearances in the circle (15 starts), while also appearing four times at shortstop and once in the designated player role
• Suffered an injury prior to the UTA series (4/18) and missed the final 20 games of the season
• At the time of her injury, ranked sixth in the Sun Belt in ERA (2.09) and opponent batting average (.209), and eighth in innings pitched (73.2).    
• Her earned run average led the club    
• Tossed a pair of complete games and had a pair of shutouts    
• Struck out 32 and held opponents to a .209 batting average in 73.2 innings of work
• Allowed one earned run or less in 13 of her 19 appearances    
• Tossed a complete-game shutout in her second start of the season versus Lipscomb (2/19)    
• Allowed just two hits and walked one, while striking out a season-best five in her seven innings of the work versus the Bison    
• Went 6.2 innings at nationally-ranked Louisiana as she allowed just one run versus the Ragin’ Cajuns while pitching around four hits and four walks    
• Picked up a 3-1 complete-game victory in game one of a three-game series at Texas State (4/9) where she held the Bobcats to three hits and pitched around three walks    

JUNIOR SEASON (2020) – COVID 19 SEASON    
• Saw time in the infield and in the circle    
• Started 12 games at second, six starts as the designated player and two games at shortstop, while also making eight starts in the circle    
• Batted .250 as she was 14-for-56 at the plate    
• Her four doubles were tied for most on the team, while scoring nine runs and driving in eight    
• Her six two-out RBI were tied for most on the club    
• Recorded two multi-hit games and her three multi-RBI outings, which were tied with two other players for most on the team    
• Made nine appearances in the circle and tossed three complete games    
• Had a 4.13 ERA in her 40.2 innings of work, striking out 28    
• Tossed 9.0 innings in a 3-2 victory over Florida Atlantic (3/1), where she allowed five hits, four strikeouts and no earned runs
• Recorded a pair of multi-RBI games in the SBC series against Appalachian State (3/6-8)
• Had four hits and drove in five against the Mountaineers in the series

AT PALOMAR COLLEGE
• Lettered two seasons at Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif., before transferring to South Alabama
• Helped Palomar to back-to-back championship game appearances

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2019)    
• Earned California Community College Athletic Association first-team all-conference, all-tournament and all-state honors    
• Helped Palomar to a 41-7 overall record and a 15-1 mark in conference, marking the seventh straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship for the Comets    
• Recorded seven hits, scoring two runs and driving in four, while also picking up a pair of wins in the circle during the state tournament    
• Made 28 appearances in the circle, starting 17 of those outings    
• Recorded a 15-2 record, three saves and a 0.92 earned run average in her 98.2 innings of work, while striking out 131 batters    
• Led the team in complete games (9) and her four shutouts were tied for most on the club
• Averaged 9.29 strikeouts per game during the season which ranked as third-best in the conference, while raising that average to 12.41 in league play    
• Her 0.92 earned run average was second in the CCCAA and lowered that to 0.32 against league foes    
• Opponents batted just .141 against the righty  
• Registered a five-inning no-hitter vs. San Diego Mesa (2/22)    
• Recorded no-hitter in a 4-0 victory versus Canyons (4/20) where she struck out a season-high 12 and allowed just two base runners
• Batted .365 (35-for-96), scored 19 runs and drove in 21 and was a perfect 6-for-6 in her stolen base opportunities    
• Had 10 multi-hit games, and was credited with five sacrifice hits and two sacrifice flies    

FRESHMAN SEASON (2018)    
• Earned California Community College Athletic Association first-team all-conference, all-tournament and all-state honors    
• Helped the Comets finish with a 41-5 overall record and pick up the regular-season league title as they were 16-0 in league play    
• Played in all 46 games and batted .409 (54-for-132)    
• Scored 33 runs and drove in 33, while also recording six doubles    
• Walked 14 times and struck out just nine times    
• Was a perfect 17-for-17 in her stolen base attempts    
• Recorded 16 multi-hit games, recording four season-high three-hit contests during the spring    
• Made 25 appearances in the circle making one start as she was 3-1 on the season with a 0.66 ERA    
• Struck out 70 batters in 53.1 innings in the circle, holding opponents to a .102 batting average    
• Had team high five saves    
• Led the conference in strikeouts per game as she averaged 9.23 (overall) and 11.28 in CCCAA play
• Had a streak of 48 scoreless innings of relief during the season

AT RANCHO BUENA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL    
• Lettered four seasons in softball at Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, Calif.    
• Compiled a career .322 batting average, 109 hits, 75 runs scored and 41 RBI during her prep career    
• Held a 1.78 earned run average in the circle    
• Guided the Longhorns to the CIF Division I championship in 2016 and a pair of conference championships (2014 and 2016)    
• Batted .384 as a senior with 33 hits, 25 runs scored and 14 RBI    
• Also batted .375 as a junior with 33 hits, 20 runs scored and 16 RBI

• Daughter of Patrick and Amber Hughen    
• Has two older step-sisters, Kaylee and Karisa    
• Sister, Kaylee, played softball for two seasons at Palomar Community College (2013-14) and sister, Karisa, lettered four seasons in softball at Fairfield University (2016-19)    
• Was originally left-handed, but was forced to become a righty    
• Wants to become a professional baseball broadcaster for the Padres
• Majoring in communications – broadcast journalism with a minor in sports management
