Kavi Luchowa joined the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in August 2019.
Luchowa's primary duties include training goalkeepers as well as organizing and working local soccer camps.
Luchowa’s training was instrumental in the development and play of two freshman goalkeepers: Anita Gudmundsdottir and Allison Luckhardt. The freshman pair split the season with Gudmundsdottir playing from the second match through the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals with five shutouts, three to close out the regular season, with a goals allowed average under one (0.94). Luckhardt made her debut during the penalty-kick shootout in relief of Gudmundsdottir. Luckhardt made a diving save on the penultimate kick, before Tilly Wilkes converted the spot kick for South to advance. Luckhardt played every minute to close out the season, recording six wins, three clean sheets and 48 saves.
In his first year at South Alabama, Luchowa mentored senior Goalkeeper, Justice Stanford leading to school records in goals allowed average for a single season and career (0.64 and 0.93 gaa) and career shutouts (34). In her senior season, Stanford tied second place for career shutouts in the Sunbelt, and earned the 2019 Sunbelt Defensive Player of the Year award, first team all-conference and all-Sun Belt Tournament honors. Combined with Laurie Graves, the goalkeepers tied a single-season team-record 12 shutouts.
