Nick Kuhlman was hired as assistant strength and conditioning at the University of South Alabama in May 2018, earning a promotion to Director of Strength and Conditioning for Athletics just over a year later.
In addition to overseeing the strength and conditioning program for all but the Jaguar football program, he works directly with the school’s women’s basketball, soccer and women’s golf teams.
Kuhlman joined the staff after obtaining his master's degree in Sports and Exercise Science from West Texas A&M in 2018. While at West Texas, he served as a graduate assistant athletic performance coach, working with the Buffaloes' men's soccer, men's and women's golf, and equestrian teams.
Prior to arriving in Canyon, Texas, Kuhlman was a coaching assistant on the Tennessee strength and conditioning staff.
Upon earning his bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Va., Kuhlman was a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach at Longwood where, he oversaw the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program for the Lancers' women's golf squad. He also completed an internship at Campbell in the summer of 2015.
Kuhlman has certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, United States Weightlifting (USAW Level 1 Sports Performance) and is certified in First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross.
