Tim Goldsack enters his third season with South Alabama in 2010 as the men's and women's cross country coach and assistant track and field coach. Goldsack is the primary coach for the distance events.
In just two years, Goldsack has coached 10 Sun Belt Conference Champions in cross country and track and field. Two student-athletes won cross country championships under his guidance, while eight track and field student-athletes have captured championships in both indoor and outdoor track. Goldsack has coached six indoor champions - two in the Distance Medley Relay, two in the 5,000-meter run, and one each in the 3,000m and 800m. He has also helped lead two student-athletes to gold in the 5,000m and 1,500m in outdoor, and has coached one student-athlete to an NCAA Provisional mark in the indoor 5,000m.
In all, Goldsack has coached 32 All-SBC runners, and led the Jaguars to set three conference meet records in the Distance Medley Relay, as well as the indoor and outdoor 5,000m. He has coached six NCAA meet qualifiers - three in cross country, two in the 10,000m and one in the 1,500m.
He led South Alabama's men's cross country team from 10th place in the SBC to second place in just 15 months, while helping the Jags to a seventh-place finish in the South Region, marking the second-highest finish in school history. Along the way, he coached three All-South Region runners in cross country.
In his first year at USA, Goldsack coached the 2008 SBC cross country champion, as well as the 2009 SBC Indoor champion Distance Medley Relay team that broke a SBC Championships record. Goldsack coached the SBC Indoor 3,000m and 5,000m men's champion, who broke a SBC Championships record with his finish in the 5,000m, and coached the women's SBC Indoor champion in the 800m. During the outdoor season, Goldsack coached the SBC Outdoor 5,000m champion.
Goldsack came to USA after serving as a graduate assistant with Alabama’s cross country and track program. During his time with Alabama, Goldsack was in charge of the development of practice and competition schedules, on-campus recruiting and team travel. He helped coach two individual Southeastern Conference champions, one indoor All-American, one outdoor All-American and three NCAA outdoor qualifiers.
Goldsack received his Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Kennesaw State University (2007), and began working on his Masters of Arts degree in Sports Management from Alabama in 2007.
Goldsack is a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., where he led Collins Hill High School to a cross country state championship.
