Biography

2016-17 (Pittsburgh): Averaged 1.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest in 20 appearances… Saw action in 13 of the last 14 games of the season – all against Atlantic Coast Conference competition – and set new career highs of seven points at Duke and eight rebounds vs. North Carolina.

2015-16 (Pittsburgh): Sat out the season with a foot injury.

Junior College: Attended Pensacola Junior College… Averaged 8.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in his career earning all-Panhandle Conference honors on two occasions… Converted 54.0 percent from the floor and averaged 11.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, to earn first-team all-conference and co-player of the year honors as a junior… Reached double-digits in points 15 times and rebounds on 13 occasions, including a career-best 26 points with 15 boards vs. Tallahassee Community College… Put up 5.5 points and 3.8 boards per game in his freshman campaign, and shot 61.6 percent from the floor to earn honorable mention all-conference honors... The Pirates went 21-11, reached the state semifinals and won the Panhandle Conference Tournament.

High School: Graduate of Withrow High School… Two-time honorable mention all-Ohio selection… Led the Tigers to two district championships… Set school record for blocks in a game (10)… Won player of the game at the Motor City Roundball Classic.

Personal: Full name is Rozelle Montre Nix… Born July 18, 1993 in Cincinnati, Ohio… Son of Loyre Allen and Theodore Nix… Has two older brothers… Brother, Roosevelt, currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and cousin Derrick Nix played basketball for Michigan State… Hobbies include video games, working out, cooking, shopping and relaxing… Chose South Alabama because it was close to his second home (Pensacola) and it felt like home… Favorites – movie: “The Lion King”; book: “Captain Underpants”; pro teams: Cincinnati Bengals, Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors; athletes: Kevin Durant, Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain; musical artists: Migos, Future, Rico Music; foods: baked chicken and fish; class: history… Prays and listens to music before a game… Best part of playing sports is having fun… Would like to meet Kevin Durant… Thankful for God and his family… Plans on pursuing a professional basketball career… Three wishes: to see his great-grandparents again, world peace, travel the world.
