Sam Medlock is in his first season as an assistant director of strength and conditioning for the University of South Alabama football program.
He came to South after serving as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Florida International for the last two seasons. Â During his time in that role, the Panthers appeared in back-to-back postseason bowl games after earning bids to the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl in 2018 and the Camellia Bowl a year ago; FIU finished 9-4, highlighted by a 6-2 record in Conference USA, his first fall working with the team.
In addition to working with the football team at FIU, Medlock also directed strength and conditioning programming for baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, and women’s tennis.
He was a strength and conditioning intern at Cincinnati during the 2017 season, and has also served as an intern at Mississippi State and as an assistant coach at Stetson in the spring of 2018.
A four-year letterwinner as a long snapper at FIU, Medlock was named honorable mention all-conference following each of his last two seasons while also making the Conference USA Academic Honor Roll as a senior.  After the conclusion of his playing career, he worked in the spring both as a student assistant coach and strength and conditioning intern before receiving his bachelor’s degree in sports and fitness studies in 2017.
