
JAGUAR TRACK
• Serves as the training and competition facility for the Jaguar track & field and cross country teams with a place to train and compete.
• Hosted to the school's first collegiate track & field competition in over a decade when South Alabama held the USA Invite on April 13, 2002.
• Used for multiple collegiate and high school meets each spring.
Facility features include:
• Installed new custom Mondo Surface in 2019, the same surface as used for the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games as well as multiple World Championships
• Eight 48” blue lanes with red exchange zones
• IAAF maximum radius of 138’ for faster times
• Field Event “D” Area in North end for high jump, two javelin and three throwing sectors
• Pole vault runways located on West side
• Long jump/triple jump pit on East and West inside of track
• Additional throwing sectors and javelin approach in South end
• Videoboard/scoreboard installed in spring 2016 features event schedules and results
• Berm/lawn seating areas created for spectators in spring 2016
• State-of-the-art sport lighting system was installed in the spring of 2015
• Technological ability to "flip/run" from North to South or South to North depending on prevailing winds
• Press box available for media and scoring/results
• Addition of 1,300-square-foot restroom building in 2019
• The track/athletics annex, opened in January 2014, includes men's and women's locker rooms, team lounge, weight room, training room and coaches offices
