TRACK AND FIELD PROSPECTIVE WALK-ON INFORMATION
If you are a full time student (min. 12 hours) at the University of South Alabama, or will be in the Fall of 2012, try-outs will take place on Wednesday, August 28

If you are currently not enrolled at the University of South Alabama as a Full-Time Student:
• You must apply and be accepted to the University of South Alabama
• Once you have been accepted, proceed with the below instructions
• If you are not enrolled at USA, you will not be able to try-out as a walk-on (per NCAA rules)
To Participate in Walk-On Try-Outs (MUST TAKE CARE OF ALL THESE ITEMS BEFORE THE TRY OUTS):
• You must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center (

• You must be accepted and enrolled at the University of South Alabama
• You must fax a copy of your transcripts and test scores to 251-460-6505. Attention: Coach Brueske
• You must complete the
Prospective Student-Athlete Form.
• You must complete the
Tryout Release Waiver.
• You must complete the
Newcomer Physical Form at the USA Student Health Center (Cost $20)
• You must complete the Sickle Cell Solubility Test/Waiver form at the USA Student Health Center, which is included with the pre-participation physical paperwork. Results MUST be received by medical staff prior to physical activity; lab results are usually returned within three business days. (Cost $22 – Athlete must plan ahead!).
• You must provide proof of current valid health insurance prior to the tryout (copy of front and back of insurance card required).
Potential Walk-On enrolled at another four-year institution (MUST TAKE CARE OF ALL THESE ITEMS BEFORE THE TRY OUTS):
• You must have been cleared by NCAA Eligibility Center

• You fall under transfer rules set forth by the NCAA
• No member of the University of South Alabama Athletics Department may talk with you unless USA receives a release from your school (per NCAA rules)
The September Walk –On Tryout will consist of the following tests:
• Hurdle Mobility Test
Quad Test: (Overhead back shot throw, Standing Long Jump, 3 Double Leg Hops for distance, 30 Meter Sprint)
• 150 Meter Sprint (15 Minute Break)
* 300 Meter Sprint
** 2K Medicine Ball Overhead Forward Throw (for Javelin Throwers only)

(1) Performance at the tryout;
(2) Present team strengths;
(3) Academic Excellence;
(4) Coaches Evaluation;
(5) Development potential;
(6) Competition background;
(7) Years of Participation and any other items deemed important by Coaching Staff.
