TIM WILLIAMS TABBED TO MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-SUN BELT TEAM

NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama’s Tim Williams was named to the 2009-10 All-Sun Belt Second Team, the league announced Tuesday.

Williams, a junior from Pontiac, Mich., earns all-league honors in his first season with the Jaguars after averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in the regular season.

He is one of two players to rank in the league’s top 10 in both scoring (4th) and rebounding (5th), and has scored in double-figures for 18 straight games. Williams has nine 20-point games, most on the team, and four double-doubles.

Williams was named the Sun Belt’s Player of the Week on Jan. 4 after averaging 20.7 points in road wins over No. 18 Florida, Florida International and Florida Atlantic.

In league games, Williams averaged 17.5 points and 7.1 rebounds.

Louisiana at Lafayette’s Tyren
Johnson was voted the player of the year, Brandon Reed of Arkansas State was named freshman of the year, Brett Royster of Florida Atlantic was the defensive player of the year and Arkansas State’s John Brady earned coach of the year honors.
