USA MEN?S TENNIS HEADS TO CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS FOR H-E-B TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

MOBILE, Ala.?The University of South Alabama men’s tennis team hits the road Thursday to participate in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions College Tennis Championships at Texas A&M- Corpus Christi on March 13-14.

The Jaguars will face their toughst competition to date including: No. 50 DePaul, No. 35 Texas Tech, No. 65 BYU, No. 53, and Sun Belt foe, Middle Tennessee, No. 52 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, No. 73 Western Michigan, and No. 33 New Mexico.

USA (5-5) kicks off the tournament with a 9 a.m. match against the DePaul Blue Demons (10-2) at the Corpus Christi Country Club.

South Alabama's Sergio Ramierez is the No. 47-ranked singles player in the country, and is 8-0 in dual play.  Ramierez has teamed up with Leo Dominguez to post an 8-1 record in doubles action.  The duo sits at No. 73 on the doubles polls.

The Blue Demons' Austin Doerner and Ben Hartman will be big competition for the Jags. The duo is ranked No. 38 as a doubles team, and leads the squad with an 11-1 record.

Following the match up with DePaul, South Alabama faces either No. 35 Texas Tech, or No. 65 BYU at 4 p.m.  The championship match is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the HEB Tennis Center.
