Micah Tirop advanced to the NCAA Cross Country National Championship after placing fifth and 10th, respectively, at the NCAA South Regional Championships, as announced Sunday by the NCAA.
Thirty-eight individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their region.
Edwards completed the men's 10,000-meter course in 30:09.00, and was the fourth and final automatic individual qualifier. This will be his first individual appearance at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.
Tirop placed 10th with a time of 30:30.14 on the 10,000-meter course. He earned an individual at-large bid as one of the top-five runners not on an automatic qualifying team, after Auburn received an at-large bid. This will be Tirop's third appearance at nationals.
The NCAA Cross Country National Championship will be held Mon., Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.
