EDWARDS AND TIROP QUALIFY FOR NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

INDIANAPOLIS - University of South Alabama men's cross country sophomore Zac Edwards and senior Micah Tirop advanced to the NCAA Cross Country National Championship after placing fifth and 10th, respectively, at the NCAA South Regional Championships, as announced Sunday by the NCAA.

Thirty-eight individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.  All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their region.

Edwards completed the men's 10,000-meter course in 30:09.00, and was the fourth and final automatic individual qualifier. This will be his first individual appearance at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.

Tirop placed 10th with a time of 30:30.14 on the 10,000-meter course. He earned an individual at-large bid as one of the top-five runners not on an automatic qualifying team, after Auburn received an at-large bid. This will be Tirop's third appearance at nationals.

The NCAA Cross Country National Championship will be held Mon., Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.
